Do not forget your neck! Treatments, Nutrition & Strength Training

Treatments, Nutrition & Strength Training

We spend so much time and effort looking after our faces, but in all honesty, only a few of us pay attention to anything further south than that. Your skin doesn’t stop being skin below the jaw, so your skincare shouldn’t stop there either!

The reason your neck needs even greater attention is the difference in the skin itself. It is thinner on the neck, it also has fewer oil glands, and it is constantly moving. As collagen and elastin production naturally decline with age, your neck skin can become drier and we start to notice changes in texture, fine lines and laxity there the most, (sometimes before we even see them on the face).

So, what can we actually do about it?

Treatments

1. T Shape (radio freqeuncy)
By encouraging natural collagen production over time, Radio-Frequency is incredible for improving skin texture, reducing crepiness and softening fine lines. This method heats up the skin to 45-50 degrees. This is one of Azra’s favourite treatments, as it’s suitable for all skin types.

2. PRX-T33 & face massage
Working at a deeper level, this advanced product can help redefine and contour the lower face, jawline and neck, creating a more sculpted appearance with zero downtime.

3. Microneedling (SkinPen or Meta Therapy)
This method is using controlled damage of the skin to produce new collagen.

Products

1. Super Glow & Intensive Serum
Delivers hydration and niacinamide alongside peptides to support the skin barrier and improve overall skin quality – exactly what thinner, often-neglected neck skin needs.

2. SPF50
Protects against the UV exposure that contributes to pigmentation and collagen breakdown. Take it right down over the neck and onto the chest every morning (these areas are exposed far more than we realise).

From the inside out

Treatments and products do a lot, but as a skin therapist I always tell my clients: your neck reflects how you live. Collagen is built from what you eat, supported by how you move, and protected by keeping your body stable.

1. Nutrition: feed your collagen

  • Protein at every meal. Collagen is a protein, and your body needs amino acids (from eggs, fish, legumes, Greek yoghurt, tofu) to make it. Without enough protein, skin repair slows down.
  • Vitamin C every day. Your skin can’t build collagen without it. Think peppers, kiwi, citrus, broccoli and berries and liposomal vitamin C Altrient.
  • Healthy fats for a stronger barrier. Omega-3 from oily fish, walnuts and flaxseed helps keep thinner neck skin supple and less dry.
  • Go easy on sugar. Excess sugar binds to collagen fibres (a process called glycation), making them stiffer and less elastic over time.

2. Strength training: your skin’s hidden ally

  • Muscle supports the skin above it. Building strength helps maintain the structure underneath, so skin looks firmer rather than hollow or loose.
  • Better posture, less “tech neck”. Strengthening your upper back and shoulders helps you stop looking down all day, which reduces the repeated folding that creates horizontal neck lines.
  • Improved circulation. Exercise brings oxygen and nutrients to the skin. Research has even linked regular resistance training to thicker, more elastic skin in middle-aged women.

3. Keeping your weight in balance

  • Avoid the yo-yo. Repeated weight loss and gain stretches the skin again and again, and the neck and jawline are often where we see this first.
  • Slow and steady wins. Gradual, sustainable changes give your skin time to adapt, instead of losing volume faster than elasticity can keep up.
  • Nourish, don’t restrict. Very strict diets often lack the protein, vitamins and fats your skin depends on. A balanced plate is a beauty treatment in itself.

This is exactly why our philosophy is 80% lifestyle and 20% products. The best results come when what you do in the treatment room continues at your kitchen table and in your daily routine.
