Niacinamide is everywhere — but is your skin getting too much?

Niacinamide is everywhere — but is your skin getting too much

One ingredient I see almost everywhere at the moment is niacinamide, also known as vitamin B3. It is in serums, moisturisers, toners, masks and even sunscreens. And honestly, I understand why: niacinamide is a beautiful, intelligent ingredient when it is used in the right way.

It can help support the skin barrier, calm visible redness, improve uneven tone, refine the look of pores and support a more balanced skin. For many people, especially those with sensitive, dehydrated, oily or pigmentation-prone skin, it can be a very helpful ingredient.

But here is the part I want to talk about honestly: more is not always better.

In the salon, I often see clients who are using several products at the same time that all contain niacinamide. A cleanser, a toner, a serum, a cream, maybe another serum from a different brand — and suddenly the skin becomes reactive, tight, red, bumpy or irritated. The client then thinks: “My skin doesn’t like niacinamide.” But very often, the problem is not the ingredient itself. The problem is too much layering and too little balance.

This is why I always believe in a simple, well-designed routine. Your skin does not need ten active products to improve. It needs the right ingredients, in the right concentration, combined with hydration, barrier support and daily protection.

In AZRA Botanical Simplicity, we use niacinamide in a thoughtful way. You will find it in products such as our Intensive SerumDeep Hydration 3-in-1, and Botanical Mask — always as part of a complete formula, not as a trend ingredient added without purpose.

Niacinamide is everywhere — but is your skin getting too much

For example, our Intensive Serum combines niacinamide with calming and hydrating ingredients to support a clearer, more even-looking complexion. Deep Hydration 3-in-1 gives lightweight hydration while gently supporting brightness and skin comfort. Our Botanical Mask is ideal when the skin needs soothing, moisture and a fresh, calm glow.

My advice? Look at your full routine, not just one product. If your skin feels tight, red, itchy or suddenly more sensitive, it may be a sign that you are using too many actives at once.

Healthy skin is not about doing more. It is about doing the right things consistently.
